Hello,
Working as librarian keeps me busy
with many tasks. Reference questions, collection development, programs,
etc. In addition, I also create a variety of themed displays for the
Young Adult Collection.
I have decided to create this blog
to showcase some examples of these displays.
The first display I will showcase is
from the 2013 Summer Reading Program, 'Reading is So Delicious.'
Please enjoy.

Book
Display
A very important factor to
library displays is, of course, the book displays. To relate to the theme
of 'Reading is So Delicious' two forms were placed with each book on
display.
The first stated, "This Book
Goes Well With..." A variety of food was chosen: Hamburgers, Tofu, and
even Dragon Fruit.
The second form asked readers to
write a review and state if the food suggested did in fact go well with the
book. These forms were then submitted in
the review box, which was decorated as a jar of 'Fredo's Pizza Sauce.'

Decorations
Displays that I created on the
book stacks include variations of places food can be found. For example: at a farmer's market, on a
picnic, and at the movies.
For the farmer's market display,
the strawberries were created from construction paper. The same paper was also used to fill the
mason jar to create a "Strawberry Preserve" for Summer 2013.
Red checkered picnic tablecloth
was placed at the end of the book stacks as well.

In addition to the decorations, six
recipes were placed at the end of the stacks that patrons could take home and
try out. The recipes offered included: grilled
chicken and spinach quesadillas, chocolate chip toffee scones, dill vegetable
dip, peanut crisp bars, and cinnamon roll pancakes.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing the display for Summer Reading 2013, 'Reading is So Delicious.'
